Aikido of San Leandro preserves the teaching transmitted from Morihei Ueshiba through Morihiro Saito Shihan to Patricia Hendricks Shihan.

Patricia Hendricks Shihan
Patricia Hendricks began Aikido in 1974 and traveled to Iwama, Japan, to study directly with Morihiro Saito Shihan. She later returned as a long-term uchideshi from 1987 to 1989.
She received all five weapons scrolls and Menkyo Kaiden from Saito Shihan. In 2012, Moriteru Ueshiba Doshu awarded her 7th Dan; in 2014, he awarded her the title of Shihan. She continues to teach in San Leandro and internationally.
Our history
Patricia Hendricks begins teaching Aikido at the San Leandro location.
She assumes responsibility for the school and builds the Aikido dojo from the ground up.
Students from the Bay Area and around the world continue to train here.
